Pillars
There are twelve pillars. I stand on one.
Prudence—Something you never taught me. But I know you couldn’t have.
Fortitude—A necessity for survival. It crumbled long ago.
Justice—Our Great Lie. Dashed away before I could grasp what it even was.
Courage—Fool’s gold. Should you stand on it, be ready for scorn.
Liberality—Was it ever real? I never actually saw it upright.
Magnificence—Yeah, right. Far too far to step towards.
Magnanimity—One I once thought I stood on, only to find I never did. You might find that too.
Temperance—Supposedly useful, but I don’t buy it. Only ever stood upon out of necessity.
Humility—Self insulting. I knocked this one to the ground myself.
Love—The key to disillusion. Its surface is littered with nails. How I wish I could return.
Ambition—Disillusion. An injustice to oneself. Blow it down.
And the only pillar that I remain upon today.
Honesty. If I am not honest, what am I?
Right.
Human.
Oh, I almost forgot—
There’s a thirteenth pillar.
Wisdom—Upon which I never stood a chance.
